Speaking of dance, you have a huge amount of them to choose from in this particular set. You can do something classic like a waltz. This is very popular as it sets the opening tone of the wedding and is often considered romantic. Even if it isn’t a waltz, the general feeling is to have a slow dance of some kind for this dance. This doesn’t have to be your only option, though, as dances like the tango and salsa are also quite fun if you want something more energetic.

The parent dance

This is probably the second most known dance because it is the family dance. The idea here is that much like how the parent gives one of the couples away. Know I will get this out of the way immediately; this dance is not restricted to biological parents. Step-parents or guardians both qualify, with the key being that they are important to you.

Most often, this dance is going to follow a similar style to the couple’s dance, being slow and often taking the form of a waltz. One of the best parts of the dance is the song, as it is usually a song that was special to the bride or groom when they were a kid. This can be anything from a lullaby that the parent sang to the kid to a song they played repeatedly.

The anniversary dance

This is a fun dance to use if you want the attendees to participate in dances during the reception. The idea of the anniversary dance is for any couple who has been married long enough to have an anniversary. This is usually to help excite the dance floor for newer guests who maybe haven’t been to a lot of events like this. It can also have a deeper significance as many of these guests will be ones that you have known for a long time.
The line dance

The line dance is a dance for everyone at the wedding. It is an event where a number of guests who have been practicing can all get on the dance floor. This type of dance often uses very particular styles and songs for their coordination.

You can choose from various songs for this, but some of the best are in no particular order: the cha cha slide, the Macarena, the chicken dance, and many more. These all have fast, upbeat natures to them and have coordinated dances. These are pretty simple, but you could also let our guests know ahead of time so they can practice. Just remember that these dances are supposed to be fun for everyone.

The banquet dance

This dance is a tradition that many want to keep around, but the origins of it don’t really mesh with today. The idea was that the bride would throw the bouquet into a group of single women, and the groom would remove his wife’s garter belt and throw it into a group of single men. Then both of the individuals who caught the bouquet and belt would dance together.

We don’t do much of this ceremony for many reasons. Many couples are uncomfortable with the garter belt and find it embarrassing. Many also don’t toss the bouquet today because they don’t want to see the group fighting over it. But in principle, the idea of this dance can have a place at a wedding but in a far different way.

I think that if you want to keep an idea like this around for your wedding, here are two different ways to do it. One is to have the maid of honor and the groomsmen do this dance together, but as either one could be married, this might not be what you want. Something else that you can do is have what is effectively a singles dance. If you feel like trying to play cupid at your wedding, then have a singles dance where people who aren’t married or dating can get out on the dance floor.

The money dance

This is an interesting one as it is just as much of a gift as it is a dance. The idea is that while the newlyweds dance, the guests shower them with money. Given how this can go wrong, many people pay to be on the dance floor, and then the cash is handed to the newlyweds after the fact. This ties into a whole prosperity theme in weddings, and you can feel free to use or exclude it as you see fit.

The last dance

This is for when everything is winding down and the couple is getting ready to leave. This is often the last event of the evening. What are some good small wedding destinations? Any travel can work for a small wedding, but some areas are better. California, Hawaii, Europe, and tropical islands are common and good travel destinations.

With that out of the way, we can get into more detail on how and where you can take your small destination wedding. We will go over some of the best areas to go to so that you can start getting some ideas for your wedding. So let’s go ahead and get started.

California

This one is a more common destination wedding for smaller parties. There is a lot in California for various people to want to do. Whether you are a fan of beaches, history, movies, or theme parks, there is much to do up and down the state. That doesn’t even consider the California wine culture; some people use it for their weddings entirely.

One of the reasons you will benefit from having a small wedding party is that California is expensive. Having a small party will allow you to experience what you want to do with the people with whom you want to do it. If it is you, a close group, then the sky is the limit for what you can do.

The main attraction of Hawaii are the beaches and the water, but there is more for you to do than that. You can also explore the beautiful mountains through hiking or check out new land formed at the lava flows. There are also many unique things to do on the islands, from taking in the culture to experiencing new and interesting foods.

What makes this a good choice for smaller wedding parties is the planning and expense that it takes to get to the island. You can’t drive there, and it is a multi-hour flight. Sometimes it takes upwards of fourteen hours to arrive. Plus, because they are islands, everything is more expensive than otherwise. Most of these will not be issued with a smaller party, and you can enjoy the islands together.

Florida

Now as a place for a wedding and possibly honeymoon, few places will be more controversial than Florida. This is because, unlike a lot of the other options on this list, Florida is more broken up into sections. It takes a while to get back and forth to get in between locations, so your trip will be settled in one area. Most when they go to Florida, they look at two distinct options.

One of these is theme parks. When many people think of Florida theme parks, they tend to be one of the first thoughts. If you are a fan of theme parks or the companies and own them, then this may be a plus for you. If you are really a fan, Disney world offers the ability to get married on the property at the grand Floridian hotel.

The beaches are the other area that I think most people tend to go to whenever they go to Florida. For many, their Florida trip does not begin until they hit a beach; it only ends once they leave. Some people even make a whole trip out of this by starting in Miami and going down through the Keys.

Washington

Sometimes you just want to get away from nature for your wedding, or you want a less stressful event. Few areas are better for that than the pacific northwest. It is an interesting area for a wedding for a few reasons, but they all revolve around the beauty of nature.

The thing about Washington state is that it is very removed from a lot of everything. So if you picture your wedding having a log cabin big pine forest feeling, then this is the place for you. This is a great alternative. If you want to avoid some of the stress and be in touch with nature, then this is the place for you.

As an interesting alternative, you could also hold your wedding in Seattle. It is a nice city, but it is also the center for some of the biggest tech companies in us. So if that is something you care about, it can also be worth the trip.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire is one of those states that isn’t known for big events but makes a great area for small weddings. You can have a small wedding and go out and enjoy the small New England atmosphere. This is especially great if you have a fall wedding where you can watch the leaves change color. This can make for some beautiful wedding photos and lasting memories.

There is also a significant amount of history and antiques in New England. So if this is a point of fascination for you and your partner, then New Hampshire can be a great place for you to go for your small wedding.

Fiji

Now, if you really want to escape from everything, there are few better places here than Fiji. If you get married here with your partner and friends, there is just a long while of relaxing and enjoying your company. There isn’t much to do on the islands except go to the beach or get in the water, but that is the point.

Tour of Europe

My last recommendation for your small destination wedding would be a European tour. Pick one country you love the most and then either go around that country or visit other ones nearby. My top recommendations are probably France or Italy, but truthfully, any European country could work for this and be great. Like with many of these, I picture that it would be both the wedding and a honeymoon wrapped into one.
